I hate using harsh chemicals but my other attempts to keep the sink clog free only worked for a short time -those included putting half to a whole small box of baking soda in the sink and then pouring a ton of vinegar on top followed by a big pot full of steaming hot water. I had some good luck with this but the sink would inevitably drain slowly and over time reach the point of constant standing water again. Finally broke down and decided to go the heavy chem route. I decided my sink clog is some combination of hair and or long-term buildup from castile soaps or oils (occasionally I’ve done oil pulling with coconut oil after brushing my teeth just to clean below my gum line) and possibly toothpaste.I could see the amount on the instructions on the bottle, so I just poured about half the bottle (fyi… I now see it’s supposed to be 1/5) -at the time, I did not have any standing water in the drain so maybe the extra amount was a good thing as the gel immediately vanished down into the drain. I left it alone and forgot all about it. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later I remembered and heated a big pot of water on the stove and poured it down -it vanished lickety split. I followed this up by letting the hot water from the faucet run for several minutes. A few days later, I put a little bit of baking soda (w/o vinegar) down the drain to make it extra fresh. I would not recommend using baking soda or vinegar or anything else besides hot water with this product or within a few days after using it -you never know if the chemicals will make some reaction in your pipes. All in all, I was happy with this product. I think the important thing is to try to guess what the cause of your clog is -hair, grease, did something fall down and block the path? If you can identify what the cause is, you can select the correct product for the job. I would recommend using this no more than a few times in a year -exposure to chemicals like this cannot be healthy. Store properly so your kids/pets can’t get near it. Don’t let it drip on your skin or any surface other than your sink/tub -it might corrode/damage it. I wore blue doctors gloves when handling and was extra careful not to let the product drip down the side of the bottle or on me.Clogs are a b—-. Good luck with yours.

My drain was so backed up, water was staying in my tub for days. I know it was mostly backed up due to my long hair & didnt replace the drain screen. I was skeptic on using drano max gel. Ive tried weaker versions & generic versions in the past & all failed badly. It says on it guaranteed to clean the drain or it’s free. I waited until my tub drained. I slowly poured hslf the bottle in (i thought it said 1/2. then read 1/5 after i poured it). As I poured it, it kept backing up. I waited 30 mins & poured 2 pots of boiling hot water down the drain. Then waited 30 mins before running water. My drain hasnt looked that clean in a long time. It really did dissolve all the hair. I highly recommend it.

I used an entire bottle of cleaning vinegar and idk what else, plunged this bathroom sink so many times. We never thought we would get it cleared, the water eventually took hours to drain. I’ve never had to buy a drain cleaning product before so I can’t say for sure but to me this seems like an unbeatable price. I mean, I never dreamed it would be this cheap and I would still have some leftover, and it works really well when I follow the directions. I saw a big difference after the first use, it was pretty much fixed after the second use but I did a third round just to be sure. And it was none and we haven’t had problems with it since

I own a 72 year old house. So needless to say I’ve done a lot of research on what’s best for each job around the house.I found this is always one of the top for drain cleaners. It’s also one of the best prices your gonna find, most of the time. That’s one thing I research every time I buy any drain cleaner or anything else that matter.Another thing I found this rated very high for was where a washer drains. It’s seems to come top of the lists for clearing clogs caused by lint. Honestly I can’t speak to if it’s the best or one of the best because it’s always been able to clear it so I haven’t had a chance or a reason to try another product. In some places I have ended up trying multiple products even multiple types of products.I will say some needed different stuff over several days In one case close to a month and a half. Of course most of the hardest to clear no one product would seem to do it. It would seem to help a little but they just weren’t clearing it. Even Drano seem to be having a heck of a time with it, barely having an effect. But since it turned out to be tree roots in the lines not entirely surprising. Any other type of clog it has been able to either clear them enough to them running to get something else to run through it, such as root killer. For the regular to work the Lions have to be clear at least part way up to them because it’s not made to get through anything else. Drano is always my first go to and my fall back. I’ve been here 11 years had it on subscribe and save for a good portion of that. I tried to always have at least one or two bottles on hand even when my drains are running perfectly clear cuz in a house this old you never know.

I’ve had an issue with my bathroom sink draining very slow for months now. I know it’s due to hair. I followed the instructions…poured approx 1/5 bottle , let sit for 15 minutes followed by boiling water and Tah Dah…cleared drain. I highly recommend. No offensive smell or staining of my sink.

  6. Socal

Had a pretty nasty hair clog in the drain (past the sink trap). Poured in half a bottle and waited a few hours… drain works fine now. It was a heck of a lot easier than trying to snake the line.I would definitely recommend this product for hair clogs.

I have a pop up stopper in my bathroom sink and I noticed it started collecting water quickly after turning the water on. I went with this as the cheapest option I could find and if it didn’t work I was going to call my apartment maintenance. I imagine it was a collection of build up from my staying here the past 7 months and the few tenants before me as my apartments were built in 2019. I hate when reviews ramble on and here I am doing it lol! Anyways I followed the instructions but ended up using the entire bottle. I poured it down the drain and left it all day while I was at work. When I got home I poured the boiling water down the drain and clog was gone like magic!

This has always worked for my drains and I keep buying the same product. Most of my clogs are hair related, though I try to prevent it. I have also used this on my AC drain and it cleared it in a matter of minutes. I will continue to use Drano and recommend this product.

  10. Nobody U. Know

I’ve tried other products, but none were as effective as this Drano Max Gel Drain Clog Remover. It works. It is strong – the review asks for a rating of the scent. Do not try to sniff for the scent, it will burn your nasal passages. The hotter your flush water the better this works. Boiling water is good with it, too.
