Easy to use, no strong scents like other products
These are a game changer for me. I love how quickly I can get a fire started using the fat wood sticks. I also love that they are natural and do not have a strong scent like other products I’ve tried.

Hot stuff!
These work great for starting a fire in your wood stove. If you use these economically, this box could last a full year.

Works Great!
We heat our home with a wood stove. Lighter wood is the way to go, and the price of this product was hard to beat. Fast delivery. Thank you!

Fatwood OK. Shipping container – not so much.
Good fatwood. Very poor shipping box – came all ripped open with about a 1/4 of the box missing.

Quality, value, packaging
We start a fire four or five nights a week. This product is not just a good value but offers environmentally friendly packaging.
Lori S Buley –
Skinny and powerful
Its fatwood. It burns. It starts a nice fire reliably. I don’t want to think that hard. This is exactly what its supposed to be and do.

Starts a fire quickly
We have used fatwood in our fireplaces for years. Only one or two sticks are needed to achieve a lovely fire. In the past we ordered elsewhere but, although the price was comparable, the free shipping made this a better choice.

Best fire starter
I use for lighting my only heat wood stove .

25lb. box only weighed 22lbs.
This is a great product. Although the package only weighed22 lbs. Must have dried out enroute.

Perfect!!
These ignite quick and burn plenty long enough to start your fire. Will be buying more but not for a while because they work so well

This stuff works
It works and that’s good enough for me. Moved to Colorado from Florida to a cabin with a wood stove for primary heat. News paper and cardboard makes it very hard to get a fire started. Put two of these little sticks in there and it starts easy every time. Lifelong customer here. It really works.

Call me lazy – But when I want to start a fire quickly these are fantastic
I was a Boy Scout and yes I can build a fire. There is no shame in using these. They light quickly and easily, burn well and help start larger pieces.Do it however you want but these get my woodstove going pronto.

Don’t include information about the content on the outside of the box
This is the second time I’ve ordered fat wood and the box has arrived weighing multiple pounds less than the stated amount. It’s probably a good idea not to advertise on the outside of the box the contents. It seems to be a great temptation to those in the supply chain. There’s no need to advertise the contents on the outside of the box.Fat wood is great to start fires, makes the process easy and quick.

A great buy.
These sticks are great to start a fire. I keep re-purchasing them. Highly recommend it.

It’s fatwood
This works as expected for fatwood. I live in an area where it is not common to find fatwood in the woods (not many pines) so I bought this stuff. The approx 120 sticks in the 10lb box should yield well over 200 fires. I use half a stick at most and use it as a feather stick. Once feathered it lights easily with a ferro rod, though a lighter or match would be even easier. It burns for several minutes that way. Way more than enough time to add kindling and work up in fuel size. Like I said, its fatwood. It does what it is famous for doing.

Was better last year
Bought 5 pounds last year of the same brand, and it lit like it was soaked in lighter fluid. This time I bought 10lbs, and it really takes some effort to light some of the pieces. I thought it was a fluke, and then saw that the well burned pieces, actually didn’t completely burn. They went out after burning half way. Weird. The best way I found to start your fireplace is to cut some cheap 1×4’s from the hardware store into 18″ pieces and lay on 3 or 4 pieces of fatwood. That will start it and keep it going. Good luck! Will try another brand next year.

Great to help get wood stove started each morning
Have used fatwood for years and this is good clean fatwood in a very large box.

Lots of Chards in the Mix
We tried this brand because it was less expensive than the nice box of Fatwood we have been burning for years. What I learned… You get what you pay for! There were lots of tiny chards, lots of wood dust, and not as clean and tidy as we are used to. We will not repurchase this brand.

Good fire starter …worked in the Arctic
Pitch soaked wood, great fire started … but you will still need an ignition source. We cut ours in half and ripped fatter pieces thinber, placed in quart ziplocks. Good

Large sizes for competitive prices
I have a lot of fires and need a lot of fir starters. I make some, I buy some. This is the best large-size supplier I have found. Reliable availability, consistent quality, not cheap but competitive at the sizes.

I think this is the product I ordered, but there was literally no packaging. I just received a box full of wood. No insert, no label.

Excellent splits- 50 lb box Fatwood
Liked 5 10 lb boxes inside the somewhat unwieldy 50 lb box. Wood is cleanly split with few raged pieces.Prompt on schedule delivery. As usual UPS delivered it to the wrong house.

NOT 10 lbs
Just weighed the “10lb” unopened box. It weighs 9.5 lbs. Sounds like there is plenty of room in the box for the other .5 lb of sticks. It would be nice to get what I payed for! Disappointing

If you don’t have a gas jet, this is the next best thing
a little kindling, the fatwood and your logs. your good to go. I take these with me backpacking as my starter tool for fires. They are amazing. Have been using for years and will keep lighting my fires with them as long as I don’t have a gas jetted fire place to get the wood started. Haven’t yet found one of those elk hunting in the PNW.

Almost 10 lbs
9.4 pounds in the 10 pound box. Not sure why scent is a thing for a star rating, it smells like sticks.

Good product, but I question the labeling
First the good: Things things light easily and make starting a fire a cinch. They certainly work better than any of the other kindling options I’ve tried. They have light if any scent, but they’re pleasant enough.I’ve found I can get a good fire going with just 2, at most 3, of the sticks, so a small pile will last you a decent time, even if you do a daily fire. Now the bad: There is zero chance my box actually contained 2 pounds of wood. When I picked it up, it felt lighter than a 20 oz coke bottle.Overall, I feel like it’s a decent value for the price, but I wish they would be more upfront about how much you’ll actually get in each of the box sizes. Pictures of what “5 pounds” looks like, would be a lot more helpful.

Yep, it’s wood… and it’s fatty.
You don’t even need simple tools to accurately identify this is high quality fatwood. Incredibly useful for fires, I mostly utilize fatwood at the beach in firepits and such, as park troopers over in SoCal come runnin (for great reason, mind you) at the first sign of smoke. A little goes a long way, take some shavings or a small feather stick off a stick if you’re dealing with slightly damp wood. Personally, I love the scent of fatwood. I collected my own last time I was up in the mountains and kept it in my trunk in a little box. Not overpowering, just enough that my friends/family/significant other thing I use a nice woody air freshener. Being able to simply buy some off Amazon saves me some time collecting but takes some of the fun out of it all. Alas, that’s the trade-off. Definitely recommended if you currently can’t be bothered or don’t have ready access to collecting your own.

Great for both indoor and outdoor firesplaces/ fire pits
We swear by fat wood and always have it on hand for our indoor and outdoor fires. We don’t have a gas starter in our indoor fireplace so a few sticks work great to start the fire. In our fire pit outside I use a small bundle of fat wood sticks and a bunch of shredding a from my office shredder. The shredding a make it easy to light and get the fat wood sticks going. These fat wood sticks practically make for an instant fire. The only negative is a slight odor when they burn but it quickly goes away once they have burned off.

Great product.
There was a minor issue with the order. I contacted the seller and they were very responsive and took care of the issue right away. This stuff works great. I’ve been using fat wood for years, this is the 1st time with this brand and it is good

Couldn’t make fires without them!
Used to order from Plow & Hearth but during Covid they ran out and I purchased these, never looked back. These work great, and at a better price. Perfect for my wood burning fireplace🔥. When mom makes a better fire than dad, you know they’re good 😊

Great Fire Starter
I really like these fire starters and they are all I use in my wood stove anymore. They work great, and I like that the contain no petroleum products at all. I can not imagine using fossil fuels to start my wood fire to heat my home. These are perfect. I have bought them few times and I am sure I will buy them again in the future. Highly recommended.

Works great. A little expensive.
We used to cut and split pine fat wood ourselves when I was young but I don’t have a source for that anymore. So I am forced to buy it. I bought the 50 lb box and it came In five 10 pound boxes which is fine. Makes it easier to handle. Started one fire so far and it works like it should. It’s pretty simple, either it works or it doesn’t.

Sticks
Had to update my review after use. I was so mad when I got these basic sticks delivered to my house and I felt taken for a ride. After giving them a try I can honestly say I’m going to get more. 2-3 sticks and my fires are going great. I’d rather get more for the money but they work great.

Wonderful when you don’t have kindling
I’d attach a video on how well they catch fire, but my wood burner is already going. I live in Michigan, so we can have some pretty extreme winters. These are great!I make sure I still have kindling that are between 3/4″ to 1-1/2″ in width. Put 2-3 of these, depending on how well the airflow is in your wood stove, top with a few pieces of kindling and off you go.

Not 25 pounds!
Just received my Ecostix and based on other reviews the first thing I did before opening the official ecostix box was to weigh it. 20 lbs! After opening I saw it was about 1 and a half inches from being completely full. However I concluded that even if it was totally full there was no way this box was going to weigh 25 lbs. As far as the product quality I have had 3 different brands of fat wood including Plow and Hearth, and they all were similar in size, color, smell, burn ability, and smoke generation. Fat wood is a natural product so there are going to be differences in brands and from batch to batch. As far as the Ecosticks go, I would have given them 5 stars had there actually been the 25 lbs in the box
